First Prize at Weimar-Bayreuth Liszt IPC

In his first venture into both adult and European international piano competition, Zhonghua Wei took first prize, audience prize, and prize for best Lieder transcription. Needless to say, it was a fruitful two weeks in Germany, not so much because of the result (which is always nice of course) but more so for Zhonghua’s continued maturation from preparing four rounds at such a high level (40 minutes solo, 70 minutes solo including Liszt B minor sonata, Schumann Piano Quintet, and Liszt First Piano Concerto) as well as the cultural stimulation from spending extended time in two such historical cities. Esteemed jury member Leslie Howard had some nice post competition remarks Zhonghua. Thanks Leslie, and now we go back to work on the finer points of life!
